On Thursday, the 2025 football schedules for all ACC teams began coming into focus. On ACC PM on the ACC Network, the conference released dates and some times for games during Weeks 0 and 1. We knew going into that announcement that Virginia Tech was opening on Aug. 31 in Atlanta against South Carolina when the SEC schedules were announced.
In fact, we know the first four dates for the Hokies 2025 schedule as once again, they'll open with their four non-conference games against South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Old Dominion, and Wofford. The latter three games will be played at Lane Stadium.
As far as the ACC schedule split of eight games goes, the full schedule for each team will be announced on Monday night live on the ACC Network. On Friday, the ACC continued their slow roll-out of the schedule by releasing each team's first ACC games.
Virginia Tech to open conference play at North Carolina State
This past season, the Hokies opened ACC play in South Florida at Miami and by now, you know how that game ended up. Trailing 38-34 with one play remaining, quarterback Kyron Drones threw a Hail Mary to the endzone and Da'Quan Felton appeared to come down with a catch. The call on the field was a touchdown but overturned upon video review. It was a topic for a long time.

This year, Virginia Tech will open the conference schedule on the road at North Carolina State after three straight non-conference home games on Saturday, Sept. 27. After not playing the Wolfpack this past season, the two teams hooked up in 2023 in Blacksburg with NC State holding off a late Hokies rally. The loss dropped Tech at the time to 5-6, but the following weekend they went to Charlottesville and became bowl-eligible with a rout of Virginia.
