When Matt More was hired to replace Ron Crook as the offensive line coach at Virginia Tech, he is tasked with rebuilding the line from nearly scratch between players using up their eligibility and entering the transfer portal, there was a ton of work that needed to be done.

It didn't Moore long to get his first commitment as Tomas Rimac followed him from West Virginia after he was hired. With one year of eligibility remaining, Rimac was just the first in what needs to be a number of additions through the transfer portal. Monday afternoon, the Hokies picked up their second commitment along the offensive line, and for Moore, it's another familiar player.

Former West Virginia OL Kyle Altuner commits to Virginia Tech

While the Hokies are in Charlotte preparing for Friday night's Duke's Mayo Bowl against Minnesota at Bank of America Stadium, they picked up another commitment along the offensive line for 2025 when Kyle Altuner committed from West Virginia. A former four-star recruit in the Class of 2024 by 247Sports, he was West Virginia's top-rated prospect in his class, while being the 14th interior offensive lineman in the country.

Altuner has four years remaining of eligibility and adds depth to the position. Xavier Chaplin left in the transfer portal for Auburn and Braelin Moore entered the portal as well and committed to LSU. Also gone next season after running out of eligibility are Parker Clements and Kaden Moore. There is still a lot more work for Moore to do in the portal and developing the younger players returning, but getting Rimac and Altuner is a good start to rebuild the line in Blacksburg.
