The Virginia Tech football team is entering Saturday afternoon's game at home against Georgia Tech, looking to snap a two-game losing streak. Sitting at 4-2, the Hokies could easily be 6-0 had they made a couple of field goals against both Pittsburgh and California.
Kicker John Love, who has made some big kicks in his career in Blacksburg, is in a funk and is having a competition this week in practice just to keep his job. As far as injuries go, the Hokies are banged up along the offensive line, something that dates back all the way to the summer. However, Georgia Tech and head coach Brent Key will be coming to Lane Stadium this weekend, missing potentially some key players.
On Tuesday, Yellow Jackets All-ACC linebacker Kyle Efford announced that he was medically retiring, which is tough to see for one of the conference's better and well-respected linebackers. He had played in a few games this season, including last weekend's win at home over Duke.

On Wednesday night, the initial injury report for the game was released, and a couple of other names popped up for the Yellow Jackets, this time on offense. The Yellow Jackets' two running backs, Malachi Hosley and Justice Haynes, were both listed on the report, with Hosley already being ruled out and Haynes listed as doubtful. Haynes has 462 yards rushing this season on 87 carries and three touchdowns.
Again, Haynes is doubtful, but you can bet that James Franklin and Brent Pry are still going to game plan for him just in case he's upgraded in the injury reports later this week before kickoff. If both are out, this is an opportunity that the Hokies must take advantage of and there would be no excuse for losing to Georgia Tech.
Virginia Tech tight end Luke Reynolds lands on Watch List
Back in mid-August, the pre-season watch list for the Biletnikoff Award was released, and one name was missing: Virginia Tech's Luke Reynolds. On Wednesday, there were four players who were added to the watch list and one of the players was Luke Reynolds.

Wide receivers Makai Jackson of Liberty, Nick Marsh of Indiana, and Eli Wood of Utah State join Reynolds as being added to the Watch List in the middle of the season. The 6-foot-4 junior from Westford, Mass., has 41 catches for the Hokies this season for 431 yards and four touchdowns. Whenever quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer needs a big play, he calls on his former Penn State teammate.
Que'Sean Brown lands on a midseason award Watch List
Duke transfer wide receiver and punt returner Que'Sean Brown joined Reynolds, landing on an award watch list at the midway point of the season as well. He was added to the watch list for the Jet Award, which is handed out to the nation's outstanding return specialist.

This shouldn't be surprising. Brown has returned nine punts this season for the Hokies for 210 yards, which is a whopping 23.3 yards per return. He has yet to return one for a touchdown, which he nearly did against Boston College in Week 4, when he was tackled inside the 10-yard line. He also came up short inside the 10 against Old Dominion.
