Currently, in the Class of 2026, Virginia Tech football has one commitment from wide receiver Carnell Warren from South Carolina. He committed in February at the Under Armour Next All-American Game. The Hokies had another commitment in the class last June when quarterback Peyton Falzone from Nazareth, Pa. committed, but he de-committed last fall and reopened his recruiting.

Last week, Virginia Tech made the Top 8 for a Class of 2026 safety, D’Various Surratt, and now, the Hokies have once again made the Top 8 for Class of 2026 defensive player, and Warren appears to be doing some recruiting for a potential new teammate.

Virginia Tech football makes Top 8 for linebacker Caleb Gordon

Linebacker Caleb Gordon from North Carolina released his Top 8 schools, and joining Virginia Tech were three other ACC schools: Georgia Tech, Virginia, and Clemson. He was offered by North Carolina last fall by former coach Mack Brown before they hired Bill Belichick. The 6-foot-0, 215-pound three-star, according to 247Sports. He has visits set up on May 30 at Clemson and on June 19 at Virginia, with a June 13 visit to Liberty in the middle. Virginia Tech offered him last fall.

On social media, Warren quoted Gordon’s tweet and said, “I see something I like.’’

You would have to think that new defensive coordinator Sam Siefkes will be involved with Gordon’s recruitment, along with Shawn Quinn. Siefkes’ background with the Arizona Cardinals was with linebackers, and it would make sense that he’s heavily involved with with Brent Pry and who knows, maybe Warren as well.

There is a long way to go with Gordon’s recruitment, but having Virginia Tech in the mix is good. but there is work to do. Linebacker is a key position grouping for the future, and landing Gordon would be good for that position.
