The Preseason All-ACC teams were announced on Thursday, and the Virginia Tech football team was completely shut out from having any players on the list, which comes as a little bit of a surprise.

One player who didn't get on the team was kicker John Love, who has one of the best legs in the ACC, as Hokies fans saw last year. He drilled a 60-yard field goal in the Duke's Mayo Bowl loss to Minnesota when he nailed the kick at the end of the first half in not the greatest of conditions in early January. SMU kicker Collin Rogers beat him out for the spot.

Clemson leads the way with 11 players on Preseason All-ACC teams

On Wednesday, Clemson was the overwhelming favorite to win the ACC in 2025, and it wasn't a surprise. Tigers quarterback Cade Klubnik led the way on the offensive list, and he was joined by wide receivers Antonio Williams and Bryant Wesco Jr., offensive lineman Walker Parks, Blake Miller, and Ryan Linthicum.

Defensively for Clemson, edge T.J. Parker, tackle Peter Woods, linebackers Wade Woodaz, and Sammy Brown were on the list. Cornerback Avieon Terrell was the final Tigers' player named on the defensive side of the ball.

Also released was the 2025 ACC Preseason Player of the Year, and Klubnik was a clean runaway favorite with 146 votes. Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones finished tied for fourth in the Player of the Year voting with four votes, tied with Miami quarterback Carson Beck, who is joining the Hurricanes from Georgia. Georgia Tech QB Haynes King was second with nine votes, and SUM QB Kevin Jennings was third with five votes.

With the roster turnover that the Hokies had, it shouldn't come as a big surprise that Virginia Tech didn't get anyone on the Preseason All-ACC teams, but it was a little surprising that Love wasn't on there. We'll see if things can change at the end of the year, when the season is over, and how it plays out.
