Recruiting season for the Class of 2026 is going to start picking up steam in May and June. Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry has a slew of recruits locking in visits in June and between now and the summer, expect a lot of movement in terms of commitments on the recruiting trail.

Players are starting to not only lock in visits, but also narrow their choices of schools down as they start to make some big decisions. One player who was highly sought after on the recruiting trail, Kamdon Gillespie of Mooreshead, N.C., narrowed his choices down to three schools, and the Hokies made the list along with an ACC rival and an AAC school.

Virginia Tech football makes final 3 for Kamdon Gillespie

Three-star, according to 247Sports, defensive edge Kamdon Gillespie from North Carolina released his Final 3 schools, and the Hokies made the cut along with Georgia Tech and South Florida. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound is scheduled to take a visit to South Florida from June 200-22, a week after he takes a visit to Blacksburg from June 13-15, according to his X account.

Right now, Virginia Tech has three commits in the Class of 2026, with wide receiver Carnell Warren being the first, followed recently by linebacker Joshua Pittman and kicker Will Love.

Considering the other schools that were involved with Gillespie, this is a recruiting battle that I’m sure the Hokies staff will make a priority, especially with Georgia Tech in the mix as well. Virginia Tech has some veterans again along the defensive line, and adding some recruits there for the future would be big. Virginia Tech has had some luck recruiting under Pry in North Carolina, and a win here would cement that notion.
