The next month is going to be a huge one around college football in terms of recruiting. Beginning this upcoming weekend, recruits, mostly in the Class of 2026, are going to take visits to a number of schools before making some big decisions. Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry and his staff begin this weekend with several key players in Blacksburg.

Pry has made recruiting in the Commonwealth a priority since taking over for Justin Fuente, and you can make the case that he has made strides in it. Strides are going to be needed even more going forward, but one area of the state where the Hokies have had some success is in Virginia Beach. That is where a big recruit that is visiting this weekend comes from, and he’ll be looking to catch up with some former teammates on campus.

Virginia Tech to host Green Run CB Shawn Church, Jr.

One recruit who will be back on campus this weekend is cornerback Shawn Church, Jr., from Virginia Beach and Green Run. The three-star Church is taking an official visit this weekend after being on campus back in April for the Hokies' annual Spring Game.

aThe 6-foot-3, 180-pounder is the 28th-ranked player in Virginia according to 247Sports and has visits to UConn and Liberty, but also is considering a trip to Charlottesville and Virginia before making his decision next month.

Virginia Tech’s recent success in the Virginia Beach area has landed Knahlij Harrell, Jayden Anderson, Zeke Chinwike, and Keylen Adams in recent recruiting classes. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Church run into some of them this weekend while on campus.

This is one of a handful of recruits taking a visit this weekend, and with only a few players committed in the Class of 2026, this is the beginning of a rather big month for the Virginia Tech coaching staff.
