We are eight days away from Thanksgiving and things are getting very busy for Virginia Tech athletics. It’s going to be a busy next few days with key games on the basketball court, football field, and soccer pitch and that’s where we’ll begin this edition of Virginia Tech Hokies News.

Men’s basketball hosts Jacksonville

Coming off a loss to Penn State last Friday night in Baltimore, the men’s basketball team will return to Cassell Coliseum Wednesday night to host Jacksonville at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

The 3-1 Hokies will be looking to bounce back from a loss to the Nittany Lions. This is a game that Mike Young’s team needs to win as the early part of the season has been a struggle, even in some of their wins, and things will get tougher with the non-conference schedule and ACC play next month.

Women’s soccer to travel to UCLA

Fresh off a 2-1 win over Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last Friday night in Blacksburg, the Hokies’ women’s soccer team will head to Los Angeles this Friday night for a second-round matchup with powerhouse UCLA. The Bruins edged Cal Baptist, 2-1 in overtime last Friday night.

Brent Pry is high on one young player

Football coach Brent Pry gave injury updates on Tuesday, but also talked about some of his younger players and who has impressed. One of those players is wide receiver Keylen Adams, who is a backup slot receiver going into Duke on Saturday night.

Drops were a concern for the Hokies’ wide receivers against Clemson two weeks ago and with two games remaining in the regular season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see some younger receivers worked into the lineup the next two weeks. Getting a sixth win for a bowl game would be big in terms of getting extra practice and work before the off-season begins.
