When Virginia Tech hosted Boston College last Thursday night at Lane Stadium, they also hosted some recruits for the Class of 2025 and 2026. One player they hosted was a Boise State commit in the Class of 2025, Brendon Haygood as they try to get the running back to flip his commitment.

Sunday, Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry and his staff picked up another commitment in the Class of 2025 and this one already has a brother on the Hokies currently and he knows the program very well.

3-Star LB Brennan Johnson commits to Virginia Tech

Recruiting in the state of Virginia has been a hit with the Class of 2025 for the Hokies, despite Matthew Outten de-committing and flipping to Penn State back in September. Sunday afternoon, the Hokies picked up another commit from the Commonwealth in three-star linebacker Brennan Johnson, younger brother of current Hokie Braylon Johnson.

Brennan is the 30th ranked player in Virginia in the Class of 2025 and he had a strong junior season with 120 tackles, 18 for losses, to go along with four sacks and three forced fumbles. Those stats earned him the 2023 Virginia Class 6 Defensive Player of the Year.

He also held offers from Maryland, Ole Miss, Boston College, Penn State, Michigan State, Indiana, Miami, Duke, South Carolina, and Tennessee. He was part of a monster recruiting month of June when he took his official visit to Tech.

Brennan is the 17th commitment in the Class of 2025 for Pry and the 11th from Virginia. He'll join four-star Brett Clatterbaugh and three-star Noah Chambers at linebacker. Other defensive commitments in the class for Virginia Tech include Sheldon Robinson (safety), Christian Evans (defensive lineman), Knahlij Harrell (cornerback), Zeke Chinwkie (edge), and Sherrod Henderson (edge). Brennan Johnson will likely not be the last commit from the class for next season.
