Recruiting in the Class of 2026 is going to pick up in terms of visits and eventual commitments for college football. This weekend, Virginia Tech is hosting several recruits for their spring scrimmage and practices.
One recruit who has an official visit scheduled for late May is Suffolk, Virginia, linebacker Joshua Pittman. Things appear to be trending in the right direction, and so well that Brian Dohn of 247Sports has logged a Crystal Ball prediction for the Hokies to land his commitment.
Virginia Tech football gets Crystal Ball prediction for in-state LB Joshua Pittman
As it has been pointed out many times before, since being hired to replace Justin Fuente, Brent Pry has made recruiting in the state of Virginia a priority. He has made major strides in that recently with a dozen in the Class of 2025. Now he is projected to land another one, which would be big.
He was offered in September of 2023, and it was his first offer. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder can play both on the inside and outside. He would be the first commitment in the Class of 2026 for Virginia Tech on the defensive side of the ball.
The Hokies got a commitment in February from Bluffton, South Carolina’s Carnell Warren, a wide receiver, but he won’t be the last one as there are some visits scheduled over the next couple of weeks and months with more commitments expected.
This is the first crystal ball prediction for the Hokies in the Class of 2026, but in terms of Pittman, other schools in the mix include Michigan State, a pair of ACC schools, Syracuse and North Carolina, and first-year coach Bill Belichick. Syracuse has made strides in recruiting under Fran Brown, who was at Georgia before being hired in New York so he knows the recruiting landscape in the south.
