It took some time, but Wednesday night, Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry picked up his first transfer portal commitment. Clemson transfer Sherrod Covil, Jr. committed to the Hokies and it gives the secondary a big boost with the talent that was lost with Mansoor Delane and Mose Phillips to the portal.

Truth be told, the Hokies roster is again in need of a number of transfer portal players with the amount of the players that have either entered the portal, declared for the NFL Draft, or have no more eligibility left. One of the many areas that need an addition is running back and on Friday, Pry got a big commitment from one of the top backs in MAC.

Bowling Green RB transfer Terion Stewart commits to Virginia Tech

in the last two seasons, the Hokies could hand the ball off to North Carolina A&T transfer Bhayshul Tuten, and what a two seasons he had in Blacksburg. However, he is likely headed for the NFL Draft leaving a huge hole in the running back room, especially after Malachi Thomas entered the portal.

Friday, Virginia Tech picked up a big commitment when Bowling Green transfer Terion Stewart signed with the Hokies. The 5-foot-9, 220-pound back had 895 yards on the ground this season for the Falcons and six touchdowns. He forced 63 missed tackles. In his four seasons at Bowling Green, he rushed for nearly 2,400 yards and 23 touchdowns.

With Thomas entering the portal, the running back depth for the Hokies looking ahead to 2025 is P.J. Prioleau, Jeremiah Coney, Tyler Mason, and incoming freshman Jeff Overton, who the Virginia Tech coaches are high on. Stewart will come in and likely take over as the top running back and according to Pete Nakos of On3, he picked the Hokies after a visit with USC.
