After playing seven straight weeks to begin the 2025 season, the Virginia Tech football team got a much-needed bye last weekend, its first of the season. It was an eventful first seven weeks for Virginia Tech between Brent Pry being fired after Week 3 and players leaving in the Transfer Portal.
Injuries have become a big part of the season as well for the Hokies and interim coach Philip Montgomery since he took over for Pry. The week off helped Virginia Tech get healthy, it appears as the first availability report was released on Wednesday night with some promising news.
Virginia Tech gets potential good injury news ahead of Cal matchup
California will make the cross-country flight this week for Friday night's game in Blacksburg. The ACC released the initial availability report, and it was looking like potential good news for Montgomery. According to the report, running back Terion Stewart, wide receiver Cameron Seldon, cornerback Thomas Williams, linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh, and defensive lineman Grant Karczewski were all listed as probable.

Given all the injuries the Hokies have dealt with this year, this is potential good news on the offensive side of the ball. Stewart when healthy has been very good for Virginia Tech and Montgomery. He has ripped off some big runs and has been tough to bring down at times.
As for Seldon, he has been a big target for Kyron Drones at wide receiver, but we have yet to see a really big play made. It feels like he's on the verge of making some, and it would be welcomed. Williams is great news that he's even probable after the injury he suffered two weeks ago at Georgia Tech. Montgomery on Tuesday said it wasn't as bad as it looked at the time in Atlanta. Cal's report was not as long as Tech's.
