The commitments have been coming fast and furious over the last five days for the Virginia Tech football team. Most of the commitments have come on the defensive side of the ball and in the secondary, an area of need for 2025. Whether it's NIL or whatever, it took some time for head coach Brent Pry to get some commitments along with some retainment, including at the quarterback position with Kyron Drones and Pop Watson.

Virginia Tech is losing most of its receivers from this year's team with Jaylin Lane, Stephen Gosnell, Da'Quan Felton, and Ali Jennings playing their final seasons in Blacksburg. Ayden Greene had his moments this season and will be looked at as one of the "veteran" ones returning with a number of younger receivers. However, an addition or two from the transfer portal would be big and they are one step closer to that happening.

Virginia Tech makes final three for Sam Phillips

Chattanooga wide receiver Sam Phillips released his final three schools according to Pete Nakos of On3 and the list includes Virginia Tech along with Iowa and Memphis. This season for the Mocs, he had 803 receiving yards on 49 catches and three touchdowns. In his career at Chattanooga, he had over 2,000 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns.

Phillips recently took a visit to Virginia Tech and was impressed according to 247Sports, but wants to take his time making his decision. He told the outlet, "I definitely want to make a decision sooner rather than later, but if I have to be patient, I am fine with that."

If he comes to Virginia Tech, he becomes one of the top options for next season and follows a pipeline of portal receivers coming to the Hokies under Pry. It should be noted that a Crystal Ball prediction for Phillips was logged for Virginia Tech from 247Sports.
