We are a couple of weeks into the transfer portal being open and options are still open for a ton of players. So far, the Virginia Tech men and women both have one commitment each from the portal with the men getting Amani Hansberry from West Virginia and the women landing Purdue transfer Sophie Swanson.

Mike Young has been in contact with some guards in the transfer portal and one guard in the portal from Oregon State released his Top 3 with it being all ACC schools, including Virginia Tech. Damarco Minor released his final three schools he'll choose with Pittsburgh and Florida State also making the list, according to Joe Tipton of On3.

Minor averaged 9.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists this past season for the Beavers, and the 6-foot-0, 190-pound Chicago native is a very good defender. If the Hokies can land him, he'll be a nice addition to push Ben Hammond next season.

Virginia Tech men linked to Western Michigan guard

One thing is clear: one position that Young and his staff are targeting in the portal is that of the guards. Virginia Tech has been in contact with a talented scorer in Western Michigan's Chansey Willis Jr. This season for the Broncos, he averaged 16.8 points a game playing 32 minutes a night. He averaged 5.8 assists a night, shooting 42% a game.

Over the last couple of days, the Hokies have been linked to a number of guards, and Willis, Jr. is up there in terms of a playmaker and his stats back it. His ability to score the ball would be welcomed by Young and his staff.

Bucknell women's transfer snubs Hokies

Megan Duffy and the Hokies were in a talented Bucknell transfer, Ashley Sofilkanich, and why not? The sophomore forward averaged 19.7 points a game for the Bison, 8.4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2.2 blocks a game. Talia Goodman of On3 reported that Sofilkanich committed to Michigan in the portal. This is a tough portal loss for Duffy and the Hokies.
