Over the past couple of weeks, the ACC has released start times and channel assignments for their conference football games 12 days in advance and put a lot of them in the six-day flex hold. Talk about a downer having to wait to see when the Hokies would be playing.

This upcoming weekend, Virginia Tech is on their second bye week of the 2024 season, and in the overall big picture, it may not be a bad thing with injuries piling up and a ton of soul-searching needed from the players to the coaching staff.

When the Hokies return from their bye, they'll be doing so by playing their sixth and final road game of the season at Duke on Nov. 23, five days before Thanksgiving. Monday, the ACC released the start times and channel assignments for that game and all games in Week 13, putting the game in an interesting time slot.

ACC puts Virginia Tech at Duke in primetime

The ACC announced that Hokies and Blue Devils will be the final game of the day, kicking off at 8 o'clock and it will be broadcast on the ACC Network. In the overall big picture, it's surprising that this game was picked for the primetime slot, but with one look at the schedule, you can see why.

SMU at Virginia will kick at noon on ESPN2 while Wake Forest and Miami kick at the same time on ESPN. Two leaders in the clubhouse, Miami and SMU, to be playing in Charlotte two weeks later in the ACC Championship Game. The rest of the games that weekend are, well, meh. Nobody wants to watch The Citadel at Clemson in primetime?

This will be a return home to Durham for Virginia Tech defensive tackle Aeneas Peebles, who came to the Hokies. from Duke. The Blue Devils are already bowl-eligible and Brent Pry's team will be looking to become bowl-eligible before having it come down to Virginia one week later.
