After beginning the season with a rout of North Carolina State at home in Week 0, the Virginia football team had an early bye in Week 1. They will take the field for their second game of the season on Friday night at home against Norfolk State.
When the Cavaliers welcome Norfolk State to Charlottesville, they will also be welcoming a former Virginia Tech legend, Michael Vick. Virginia head coach Tony Elliott met with the media on Tuesday and showered Vick with praise ahead of the matchup.

Elliott is looking forward to meeting Vick in person on Friday night at Scott Stadium in a game where the Cavaliers are an overwhelming favorite. Elliott seemed honored to be meeting Vick in pregame warmups.
"Come on, this is Michael Vick now," Elliott said. "That's a household name. All you gotta say is Vick. You didn't have to say Mike. You just say Vick, and everybody knows who that guy was.
"He was special, and he transformed the game. When you start talking about dual-threat quarterbacks, he's the prototype. He could beat you from the pocket, and then when he took off and ran, there wasn't anybody better in the league with the ball in their hands. He made those freakish, once-in-a-generation type of plays.''
If there is one thing that Virginia Tech fans can agree with Elliott on, it's that Vick was a once-in-a-generation type of playmaker. Elliott also has a lot of respect for Vick as a person as well.
"I got a tremendous amount of respect for who he is as a person, all that he's been through, and then the impact that he's now making," Elliott said. "People are going to remember him for all of the great plays, but what he's done with his life, it's very commendable."
When all is said and done late on Friday night, Elliott and the Cavaliers are likely going to be 2-0, while Vick and Norfolk State are likely going to be 0-2 after they lost their opener at Old Dominion last weekend. It's not every day that a Hokie or former Hokie will be welcomed with open arms by a Virginia coach. Vick might be the first on Friday night.
