Another year, another quiet NFL Draft for the Virginia Tech football program. After the Hokies had no players drafted in the 2024 Draft, there were no players who were drafted this weekend in Pittsburgh in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Honestly, that shouldn't come as a surprise after the mass exodus through the Transfer Portal two years ago. Virginia Tech had a former player drafted on Thursday night in the first round when former cornerback Mansoor Delane was picked by the Kansas City Chiefs. In fact, KC traded up to draft him. Quite the honor.

As far as members of the 2025 Virginia Tech team went, they had no players drafted, but after the draft, they had a handful of players sign undrafted deals.

Former Virginia Tech players singed after NFL Draft in Pittsburgh

After the draft ends, it's common for players to sign contracts with teams, and some former Hokies are going to get a chance at the next level. Defensive lineman Kelvin Gilliam, Jr., who came to Blacksburg two years ago through the Transfer Portal, signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

Offensive lineman Tomas Rimac, who only played one season at Virginia Tech after coming over through the portal from West Virginia with coach Matt Moore, signed a deal with the Minnesota Vikings. He is someone who could be an underrated player, as it was a little surprising that he went undrafted in the final rounds on Saturday.

Quarterback Kyron Drones also signed in the NFC North like Rimac, but he inked a deal with the Green Bay Packers. Now, it remains to be seen what the Packers have in store for Drones, as he became more of a runner this past season for the Hokies than he was a passer. A position change is not out of the question, and if there is an organization that could figure out a way to use Drones, it's Green Bay.

Running back Terion Stewart, who played just one season at Virginia Tech after coming through the portal from Bowling Green, is joining Delane with the Chiefs after agreeing to a deal after the draft.
