After struggling through non-conference play, the Virginia Tech football team will kick off ACC play Friday night at No. 7 Miami. It’s a primetime matchup against the Hurricanes that was expected to have a lot more juice to it, but a 2-2 start by the Hokies and a dominating 4-0 start from Miami has brought some less excitement to the game.

Both teams head into the game going in opposite directions, but it should still draw good ratings on a Friday night. Who are going to be the announcers who will be behind the mike at Hard Rock Stadium? We got you covered.

Who are the announcers for Virginia Tech vs. Miami?

This game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and be broadcast on ESPN. Anish Shroff will handle the play-by-play duties, while Andre Ware is the analyst, and Paul Carcaterra the sideline reporter. This is a veteran group that ESPN is sending and they handle a lot of the weeknight broadcasts.

Shroff calls college basketball, college baseball, and lacrosse for ESPN, and on Sundays, he is the play-by-play announcer for the Carolina Panthers games on the radio. Ware is a former Heisman Trophy winner from his playing days in college at the University of Houston in the early 1990s. He is a 21-year analyst behind the mike for ESPN and is the analyst for the Houston Texans radio broadcasts. He is in the College Football Hall of Fame. Carcaterra is a lacrosse analyst for ESPN, but he has extensive sideline reporting during the football season for the network.

Two of the better quarterbacks in the ACC will be going head-to-head with Virginia Tech’s Kyron Drones battling Washington State transfer Cam Ward for the Hurricanes. Drones as struggled in the early part of the season, Regardless, Ware should offer some good analysis of both signal callers, being one himself, as the game goes along.
