Virginia Tech women's basketball opens tough ACC schedule on the road at Duke
By Scott Roche
It is going to be a new-look Virginia Tech women’s basketball team this season after former head coach Kenny Brooks left Blacksburg after the NCAA Tournament last March. Athletic director Whit Babcock hired former Marquette coach Megan Duffy just over a week after Brooks left to replace the outgoing bench boss.
Duffy has had to make some additions to the roster after some players graduated and moved on while others followed Brooks to Kentucky. Over time, Virginia Tech’s non-conference schedule was released and it has some interesting and potentially tough matchups. Tuesday, the ACC released the full 2024-25 conference schedule with a new look to it after the auditions of SMU, Stanford, and California this season.
Virginia Tech women’s basketball ACC schedule released
Monday, the ACC leaked the first conference game for each team and the Hokies will kick off their ACC schedule on Dec. 8 at Duke in a very difficult game. Here is the full ACC schedule for Virginia Tech,
- Dec. 8: at Duke
- Jan. 2: vs. Florida State
- Jan. 5: at Miami
- Jan. 9: at Georgia Tech
- Jan 12: vs. Wake Forest
- Jan. 16: vs. Virginia
- Jan. 19: vs. Louisville
- Jan. 23: at Pittsburgh
- Jan. 26: vs. North Carolina State
- Jan. 30: vs. Notre Dame
- Feb. 2: vs. SMU
- Feb. 6: vs, Syracuse
- Feb. 9: at Virginia
- Feb. 13: at North Carolina
- Feb. 20: vs. Stanford
- Feb. 22: vs. California
- Feb. 27: at Boston College
- March 2: at Clemson
In an odd scheduling quirk, all three first-year ACC members come to Blacksburg this season, which means the Hokies will return the favor every other year. The two California teams will play 48 hours a part in Blacksburg in February, but in the overall big picture, with a new coach, new players, and a new system, this will be a tough schedule to navigate for Duffy in her first season at Virginia Tech.
