Virginia Tech vs. Old Dominion final odds & prediction
By Scott Roche
Through two weeks of the season, does anyone really know what to expect from the Virginia Tech football team? Not really. Expect the unexpected after their first two results against Vanderbilt and Marshall.
A double-digit favorite in their first two games against Vanderbilt and Marshall, the Hokies are 1-1 after losing the opener to the Commodores before beating the Hurd at home last weekend. This weekend, they are once again a double-digit favorite, this time on the road at Old Dominion against a Monarchs team that has given them fits in Norfolk in their two previous trips. What will happen this Saturday night?
Virginia Tech vs. Old Dominion final odds & prediction
File this under, here we go again. The Hokies are a 15-point favorite when this article was written. Never mind covering the spread, can Virginia Tech come close to it and win? This year, who knows what we’re going to get from them?
If Virginia Tech is going to win the game, you would have to think that their offense will need to put up more than three points, which they have done in their first two games. Play calling needs to be better as does execution and the offensive line. This feels like a game where Ali Jennings and the other wide receivers can make some plays to help get the offense going early and often.
Defensively, the Hokies have to prepare for multiple quarterbacks as starter Grant Wilson was injured against East Carolina and his status will be a decision that will be made Saturday. Old Dominion has a pair of backup quarterbacks who are capable of causing problems with their running ability (as does Wilson), something Virginia Tech has proven they have struggled to stop early this season.
In the end, Virginia Tech will pull this one out, but it won’t be as easy as the line says and it’ll be another one-possession game.
