The Virginia Tech men’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak Tuesday night with an 83-75 win over Florida State at Cassell Coliseum. With their NCAA Tournament hopes dashed by the three-game losing streak, the Hokies are playing now to extend their season after the ACC Tournament next month with a possible NIT bid. At 14-10, Mike Young’s team has seven conference games remaining.

They begin their final stretch on Saturday afternoon with a game at 7th-ranked North Carolina, who is going to be an angry team coming in off a loss Tuesday night, 86-79, at Syracuse.

Virginia Tech at North Carolina, How to Watch, Preview

14-10 (6-7 ACC). 447. Feb. 17. 19-6 (11-3 ACC). . 2:00 p.m.. ACC Network. ACC. 441

This game will begin at 2 o’clock and be broadcast on the ACC Network and streamed on FuboTV.

If there has been one takeaway from the wins and the losses that the Hokies have suffered this season, it’s been the play of Lynn Kidd. When the center is involved in the offense like he was against the Seminoles and attacking the boards at both ends, Virginia Tech generally has success. Against FSU, he had 12 points and 15 rebounds and was able to have a good night against an athletic team. Hunter Cattoor shot the ball well, which is another huge key for the Hokeis, and Sean Pedulla did a lot of his scoring from the free-throw line.

North Carolina is a legitimate contender to cut the nets down in April and they are led by forward Armando Bacot and guard RJ Davis, who averages 21 points a game. Bacot, who averages 14 points a game, is shooting over 50% from the field this season.

This is going to be a difficult game for the Hokies as the Tar Heels are going be looking to get back into the win column and keep pace in the ACC race with Duke. I’m expecting a North Carolina double-digit victory at the Dean Dome.
