In this edition of Virginia Tech News, the football team announced the date and time for the spring game, a men’s basketball recruit received a nomination, and more.

The Spring Football Game Date was released

Virginia Tech released the date and time of the 2024 spring game, which will be played on April 13 at 3 o’clock at Lane Stadium. This game is always one that Hokies fans look forward to, however, this season it has a little more juice. Coming off a 7-6 season and a Military Bowl victory over Tulane University and Tech has a lot of key pieces on offense and defense coming back gives Hokies a lot of hope for 2024.

Head coach Brent Pry has added some key pieces in the transfer portal to go along with the returning talent on defense, which should make their defense a tough unit next fall under Chris Marve.

Ryan Jones is a McDonald’s All-American nominee

Virginia Tech men’s basketball commit, Ryan Jones, Jr. from Gainsville, Florida, was nominated to the McDonald’s All-American team. Jones, who chose the Hokies over his hometown Florida Gators, had 24 points on six 3-pointers and also collected six rebounds for the Rock School earlier this week.

Virginia Tech women look to bounce back vs. Clemson

The Virginia Tech women’s basketball will be returning to Blacksburg this weekend to host Clemson in an ACC game on Sunday at noon. The Hokies are coming off of a pair of road losses against Florida State and Duke.

The status of point guard Georgia Amoore is unknown after she was hit in the head early in the second half against the Blue Devils by an elbow diving for a loose ball. At the time, Virginia Tech, which jumped to an 11-0 lead, trailed by three, got an Elizabeth Kitley basket off the ensuing out-of-bounds set to cut the deficit to one, before Duke’s pressure and shooting allowed them to separate from Tech.
