In the latest edition of Virginia Tech News, there is an absolutely insane stat regarding the Virginia Tech women's basketball team and the baseball and softball teams wrapped up their weekends with split results.

Women's basketball are road warriors

Sunday, the 12th-ranked Hokies women's basketball team went to Louisville and beat the 18th-ranked Cardinals, 86-70, with an impressive offensive performance. Elizabeth Kitley and Georgia Amoore each had a double-double, but what was more impressive was the stat from Will Stewart of Tech Sideline.

Top 25 teams Syracuse, North Carolina State, and Louisville are a combined 39-0 at home this season when they don't play Virginia Tech. What makes that impressive is all three of those wins for Kenny Brooks' team have been by double-digits. Pretty impressive from a veteran team on a nine-game winning streak.

Softball closes out weekend with victory

The Virginia Tech softball team finished their weekend at Arizona State in the Littlewood Classic with a 6-0 victory over Illinois State. The 17th-ranked Hokies return to Blacksburg at 7-2-1 and play their first home game of the season against Elon on Wednesday.

Against the Redbirds, Cameron Fagan had a home run, Kylie Aldridge had a home run and Emma Ritter also went deep. Emma Mazzarone and Emma Lemley combined for the shutout in the circle as they combined to scatter four hits and striking out eight.

Baseball drops series final at Charlotte

After winning the first two games of their three-game opening series against the Charlotte 49ers, the Hokies were unable to complete the sweep Sunday with a 10-5 in the final game. Still, a 2-1 start to the season with more questions than answers is good for Tech.

Facing an early 6-0 deficit after three innings, the Hokies got two hits, including a home run from Garrett Michel. Virginia Tech will return to the diamond at James Madison Wednesday afternoon.
