In this edition of Virginia Tech News, the football team had a big weekend hosting recruits, two softball players were named to the Preseason All-ACC team and more.

Two softball players named to Preseason All-ACC team

It's hard to believe, but the 2024 Virginia Tech softball season is right around the corner with the first games on Feb. 9 with games against Illinois and Auburn. Ahead of the opening weekend, two members of the Hokies softball team were named to the Preseason All-ACC team. Second baseman Cameron Fagan and outfielder Emma Ritter were named to the Preseason All-ACC team for the Hokies.

Elizabeth Kitley named Top 10 candidate for award

Virginia Tech women's basketball center Elizabeth Kitley was recently named a Top 10 Candidate for the Lisa Leslie Award, which is awarded annually to the best women's basketball center. It's hard not to think that she should be the front-runner for the award.

Football hosted several recruits over the weekend

It was another big weekend in terms of hosting recruits for Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry and his staff. They hosted several members of the Class of 2025 in Blacksburg.

There were some big names on that list the Virginia Tech is making a priority. One area that has been very successful lately for the Hokies in recruiting in the state of Virginia and Jayden Anderson of Virginia Beach is one of them.

Virginia Tech men's basketball to host Duke

The Virginia Tech men's basketball team will have a quick turnaround following their victory over Georgia Tech Saturday night at home. The Hokies, who are looking for a huge resume building win for the NCAA Tournament will host Duke Monday night at Cassell Coliseum. Winner of three in a row, Mike Young's team is looking to sweep their three-game homestand before heading back out on the road.
