Six games into the ACC schedule for 2023-24, the Virginia Tech men’s basketball team sits at 2-4 after two straight losses to Miami and Virginia. At 10-7, the Hokies need to start stringing wins together if they have any visions of making the NCAA Tournament in March.

Mike Young’s team is in need of Quad 1 and 2 wins, especially on the road and they will have a chance at one Saturday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina against a 5-1 North Carolina State team that is coming off a comeback victory at home over Wake Forest

Virginia Tech vs. NC State, How to Watch, Preview

447. CW Network. ACC. 442. 10-7 (2-4 ACC). Jan. 20. 13-4 (5-1 ACC). . 12:00 p.m.

This game will begin at noon and broadcast on the CW Network and FuboTV.

NC State comes in at 13-4 overall and is led by guard DJ Horne who is averaging 15 points a game and he led the Wolfpack rally against the Demon Deacons with 21 points as they rallied from an 11-point second-half deficit for an 83-76 win. Ben Middlebrooks had 14 points off the bench, while Jayden Taylor had 12 and DJ Burns added 10. What was impressive about the win was that they struggled from the 3-point line in the game and shot 53.7% from the field on their way to putting up 83 points. NC State was 25-for-33 from the foul line.

As for the Hokies, they turned the ball over 15 times against the Cavaliers, with point guard Sean Pedulla turning it over seven times. Pedulla (18), Hunter Cattoor (12), and Robbie Beran (10) led Virginia Tech in points in the 65-57 setback. One player that needs to be more productive at both ends of the floor is center Lynn Kidd who has struggled offensively and at times, he’s not even been looking to shoot like he was earlier in the season. When he’s productive in the post, that’s when the Hokies are at their best offensively.

This is going to be a tough game for Virginia Tech on the road against a team whose lone conference loss so far has been to North Carolina, who is undefeated in ACC play. They will have to play one of their better games of the season to have a chance.
