Virginia Tech & Megan Duffy make the cut for 2 four-star Class of 2025 recruits
By Scott Roche
Since taking over Kenny Brooks at Virginia Tech in early April after the former coach left in late March after the Hokies were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament, Megan Duffy has been busy recruiting and setting things up for not only the 2024-25 season but also the future of the program. Recruiting-wise, the former Marquette head coach has two commits in the Class of 2025 and will be hosting one of the top recruits in the class this fall.
Four-star point guard Destiny Lunan from Goodyear, Arizona, cut her lengthy list down to 13 schools with Virginia Tech on that list. It's a list that includes four other ACC schools, Syracuse, California, North Carolina State, and Boston College. In contrast, non-ACC schools are Arizona, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Colorado, West Virginia, Memphis Florida, and St. John's.
The 5-foot-10 Lunan has set up some visits this upcoming fall and told 247Sports that she would like to cut her list down to five by December before deciding at some point. She will be in Blacksburg on Sept. 21. She starts her visits on Aug. 28 in Colorado. Also, she has official visits lined up in California, Arizona, NC State, Florida, and West Virginia ahead of December.
So far in the Class of 2025, Duffy has two four-star commitments from Amani Jones and Katie Sears, who are both a big part of the future as Hokies. Lunan is the latest to have Virginia Tech on her latest update list as four-star forward Ciara Byers trimmed her list to seven.
Byers has Virginia Tech, Louisville, California, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Maryland, and Mississippi State as her final seven. Interestingly enough, she's from Winchester, Kentucky, and Brooks and the Wildcats are not currently in the mix for her. She plans to take official visits this fall before making her decision sometime over the winter.
