Virginia Tech Makes Top-Six for Class of 2025 Rising Guard From Alabama

With the calendar turned to August, recruiting in the Class of 2025 for men's basketball will begin to pick up in a few weeks once college campuses are full this fall. So far in the class, Virginia Tech coach Mike Young has two commitments from three-star forward Sin'Cere Jones and a four-star center, Christian Gurdak.
Gurdak, who committed in July, is reportedly helping to recruit four-star guard Kayden Mingo in the Class of 2025 who has set up a visit to Blacksburg, but another guard in the class, Simon Walker, also has a visit set up to Virginia Tech.
Virginia Tech makes top-six for rising guard Simon Walker from Alabama
Walker, who is the No. 2 player in Alabama in his class and No. 43 guard in the country according to On3, cut his list down to Virginia Tech, Clemson, Butler, Iowa, Auburn, and Vanderbilt. He has visits scheduled to all six schools and he will be in Blacksburg on the weekend of Sept. 20-22, his next to final stop. He will visit Clemson the weekend after.
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Huntsville High School spoke to On3 about his final six schools and he liked Virginia Tech because of the way they utilize their players and he could see himself fitting in there. The Hokies are going up against some good national programs and will have their work cut out for them in Walker's recruiting.
Jones and Gurdak are a good start in the Class of 2025 for Young and his staff in the front court and guard play is the next position that they are looking to add to. Young likes shooters and Walker fits that bill and would fit right into the offense that Virginia Tech likes to run. The Hokies making the final six is a good sign.
