Women's basketball finishes ranked in AP Top 25
It's weird talking about the 2023-24 women's basketball team after what has unfolded in the last two weeks, but the final Associated Press Top 25 poll was released one day after South Carolina beat Iowa in the NCAA Championship Game to finish the season undefeated.
Virginia Tech finished ranked 18th in the poll after finishing 25-8 after a second-round loss to Baylor in the NCAA Tournament last month. New coach Megan Duffy replaces Kenny Brooks who left for Kentucky and there is no doubt that she will continue to lead the Hokies in the right direction beginning next season.
Baseball adds mid-week game in May
The Hokies' baseball team, which fell to No. 16 in the latest D1Baseball Top 25 poll after being swept at home by Wake Forest over the weekend, added a non-conference game at English Field on May 1 against North Carolina A&T at 7 o'clock.
Virginia Tech will look to get back in the win column Wednesday night at home against Liberty, before traveling to Atlanta for a three-game ACC set next weekend against Georgia Tech.
Softball team drops in latest poll
Last week, the Hokies softball team went 3-1 but still dropped to No. 16 in the latest Softball America poll. Virginia Tech took two out of three over North Carolina State over the weekend after beating Liberty, 6-5, last Wednesday night. This week, they are off until Friday night when they host Boston College for a three-game weekend series in Blacksburg. Duke, which swept the Hokies two weeks ago, was the new top-ranked team this week.
