In this edition of Virginia Tech Hokies News, football coach Brent Pry gives an update on a key football player for the 2024 season, the women's soccer team looks for a third straight win to begin the season and the men's soccer team kicks off their 2024 season tonight.

Brent Pry gives update on Tucker Holloway

Football coach Brent Pry gave an update on wide receiver/punt returner Tucker Holloway to ESPN's David Hale and it's a good news/bad new scenario. Pry said that they are hopeful to use Holloway over the last four games of the season and preserve a redshirt season for him for 2025.

Holloway was a dynamic returner for the Hokies and changed field position several times, but now those duties will be up to Jaylin Lane, who just happened to be one of the top punt returns in the country at Middle Tennessee State before transferring to Virginia Tech.

"It's great to have Jaylen," said Stu Holt back in the spring. "You know, he's a former, nationally ranked punt returner at his previous institution and he showed some glimpses last year, he took one to the house against. Unfortunately, he was called back, but it's great to have him."

Women's soccer visits Delaware

The Hokies women's soccer team, which was ranked No. 21 in the United State Coaches Poll, will look to improve to 3-0 with a non-conference match at Delaware. So far the Hokies have shutout wins over Campbell, 4-0, and James Madison, 2-0, on Sunday. This is the second of three straight road games for Tech who will wrap it up Sunday afternoon in New Jersey against Monmouth.

Men's soccer opens season at Thompson Field

The Hokies men's soccer team will open the season Thursday night at home at Thompson Field against North Florida looking to have a better 2024 campaign than 2023.
