In this edition of Virginia Tech Hokies News, there is a lot of transfer portal news surrounding the men's basketball team, the wrestling team sweeping postseason awards, the baseball had a game at Marshall postponed, and more.

Men's basketball makes final six for basketball transfer portal recruit

Tuesday, men's basketball coach Mike Young landed his first transfer portal commit when Jordan Ivy-Curry committed to Virginia Tech to join Mylyjael Poteat who withdrew from the transfer portal on Saturday. Ivy-Curry is a nice addition and they are also in the running for another potential transfer.

Joe Tipton of On3Sports reported that East Carolina transfer Brandon Johnson is down to six schools including Virginia Tech. The other five are Miami, Louisville, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh and Mississippi State. Johnson averaged 14 points and 8.6 rebounds for the Pirates in 2023-24.

Wrestling sweeps ACC Awards

It was a clean sweep for the Virginia Tech wrestling team with ACC awards and after the season they had, it shouldn't be surprising. National champion Caleb Henson was named ACC Wrestler of the Year, while ACC champion and All-American Thomas Stewart, Jr. was ACC Freshman of the Year. Head coach Tony Robie was named ACC Wrrestlign Coach of the Year. It was yet another successful winter on the mat for the Hokies.

Baseball postponed at Marshall

With the nasty weather making its way up the East Coast, the 11th-ranked Hokies baseball team had their game at Marshall in Huntington, West Virginia postponed on Tuesday. The Hokies X page said that both schools were working on a makeup date. We'll see.

Softball to host Liberty

The Hokies softball team will return to the diamond Wednesday night to host Liberty. The 25-8-1 Hokies will hit the road this weekend for a three game ACC series at North Carolina State.
