In the latest edition of Virginia Tech Hokies News, there has been a lot of coming and going in the transfer portal for the Virginia Tech baseball team and a pair of priority football recruits have set their commitment dates.

Virginia Tech baseball has been busy with the transfer portal

It's been almost three weeks since the Virginia Tech baseball season came to a frustrating end in the ACC Tournament with losses to North Carolina State and Duke in Pool Play. Once a team looked at as an NCAA Tournament team, the Hokies fell off the map over the season's final six weeks to miss out on the 64-team field.

Since they played their final game, there have been some comings and goings when it comes to the transfer portal. Since the season ended, head coach John Szefc has lost Griffin Green, Ryan Buckler, JT Gibson, and Ryan Kennedy.

On the flip side, Virginia Tech has had three players commit to them in outfielder Cam Pittman from Radford, outfielder Jackson Cherry from Mercer and JUCO transfer, utility infielder Jared Davis.

Football recruits set commitment dates

When it comes to recruiting in the Class of 2025, things are going to start to pick up. Currently, head coach Brent Pry has six commitments in the class, with the latest coming over last weekend in cornerback Sheldon Robinson, the fifth recruit from the state of Virginia to commit.

The Hokies are looking to add at least one more quarterback to the class with DeSoto, Texas commit Kelden Ryan and AJ Brand has emerged as a recruit that could be considered a priority. He announced on his X account that he would make his commitment on June 23.

Three-star defensive back Terrance Edwards, who had a visit to Michigan State scheduled for this upcoming weekend that he canceled, announced that he will commit on Saturday at 3 p.m. His final three are Michigan State, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia, currently the Crystal Ball Prediction leader from 247Sports.
