Virginia Tech Hokies News: Another football injury, women's soccer cracks Top 25

In this edition of Virginia Tech Hokies News, a football player will be sidelined with an injury, the men's soccer pulls of a late-game comeback and the women's soccer team is back in the Top 25 after a perfect week.
Football player suffers injury at Vanderbilt
In the fourth quarter of last Saturday's 34-27 overtime loss at Vanderbilt, the Hokies were hit with a pair of injuries. Safety Jalen Stroman will miss a couple of weeks according to head coach Brent Pry and a linebacker was injured on punt coverage.
Will Johnson was carted off the field at FirstBank Stadium and according to Pry, Johnson "is going to be out a little while. He is a key special teams player for the Hokies and will need to be replaced beginning this weekend against Marshall.
Men's soccer rallies to tie Kentucky
Playing their first road game of the season, the Hokies' men's soccer team dug themselves into a 2-0 hole at Kentucky in a non-conference match in Lexington, but they rallied with a goal late in the first half and late in the second half to improve to 2-0-1 on the young season.
Ethan Hackenberg scored in the 41st minute to get Virginia Tech on the board as the 23rd-ranked Wildcats scored in the 27th and 39th minute for a 2-0 lead. In the 88th minute and with the Hokies pushing to even the score, Ian Marcano collected the ball outside the Kentucky box and curled a perfect shot into the top corner to even the match.
The Hokies return to the pitch on Thursday night at Thompson Field at 5 o'clock when the host Presbyterian College.
Women's soccer in Top 25
Last week the Hokies' women's soccer team won a pair of matches and Allie George played a big part in them. She was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week after helping Virginia Tech record a pair of shutouts and scoring a pair of goals in wins of Loyola (Maryland) and High Point.
After both wins last week, the Hokies returned to the Top 25, coming in at No. 21 ahead of Thursday night's home match against Liberty at 7:30 p.m.
