Over the last couple of weeks, all signs pointed to North Carolina State landing four-star wide receiver Shamarius "Snook" Peterkin when he committed Friday. Anna Adams of 247Sports was close to making a Crystal Ball Prediction for the Wolfpack, but stopped short Thursday when she picked up on some things that made her believe Virginia Tech was making a push, she held off the prediction.

Whatever Adams picked up on, she was right. Peterkin announced Friday morning that he was committing to the Hokies and it gives them another Class of 2025 talented wide receiver and another huge recruiting victory for Fontel Mines.

Snook Peterkin commits to Virginia Tech over two in-state ACC schools

Not only were the Wolfpack involved with Peterkin with the Hokies, but so was North Carolina. Peterkin held nearly two dozen offers and visited Blacksburg on May 31, before stops at NC State and North Carolina. The 6-foot-2 172-pound Peterkin from Winston-Salem, N.C., is a standout at Mount Taber High School.

Peterkin is the fourth four-star recruit in the Class of 2025 that Virginia Tech has secured along with linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh, and fellow wide receivers Micah Matthews and Matthew Outten. Last season as a junior, Peterkin caught 42 passes for 842 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is the second commit from North Carolina in the class, joining edge Sherrod Henderson.

Mines has been huge for head coach Brent Pry in terms of recruiting and he was the leading recruiter for Matthews and Outten as well. Virginia Tech is building an impressive Class of 2025 and they are building an exciting wide receiver class for the future. Not too long ago this didn't seem possible that Peterkin was going to pick the Hokies, but Mines did some great work to help build one of the better recruiting classes in a while in Blacksburg.
