Virginia Tech football trending for Class of 2025 edge
By Scott Roche
Third-year Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry is a defensive guy. Before he arrived in Blacksburg as the replacement for Justin Fuente, Pry was the defensive coordinator for James Franklin at Penn State.
Recruiting has been going very well as of late for Pry and his staff as they have landed some key Class of 2025 players on both sides of the ball, but on the defensive side, the Hokies have been getting some good players. Now, with a three-star edge just one day away from making his decision Sunday, Virginia Tech is trending toward one key player from North Carolina.
Virginia Tech football trending toward landing edge Sherrod Henderson
Three-star edge Sherrod Henderson from Rocky Hill, N.C. will announce his decision Sunday and the latest Crystal Ball Predictions from 247Sports have Virginia Tech trending toward the 29th-ranked player overall in North Carolina.
Henderson has taken official visits to South Florida, Duke, and Michigan State, however, earlier this week, he eliminated South Florida from his top choices. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Henderson has seen a push from Virginia Tech since this spring and the Hokies already have a commitment last Monday night from edge Zeke Chinwike in the Class of 2025.
In 2023 as a junior, Henderson had 75 tackles and 12 sacks, while also rushing for over 1,000 yards as a running back and over a dozen touchdowns. Of course things can change at any moment in recruiting, but right now, Henderson is trending towards the Hokies. Pry and his staff have done a really good job recruiting in the class on the defensive side of the ball and getting Henderson would only reinforce that what the head coach and staff are building in Blacksburg is real and getting Virginia Tech back is well on its way in a short time.
