In this edition of Virginia Tech Football News, the Hokies land a long snapper from the transfer portal and a four-star safety has Virginia Tech listed in his Top 12 schools.

Hokies add long snapper Tate Kendall

Brent Pry's work in the transfer portal continues into 2024. After a successful December that saw him add some big pieces, on the offensive and defensive line and at linebacker, the Hokies landed a long snapper, Tate Kendall.

“I am thrilled to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Virginia Tech,” Kendall posted on X. “Thank you to Coach Holt and Coach McCombs for this amazing opportunity.”

The Charlotte, North Carolina native has four years remaining after playing this season at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He appeared in three games this season for the Minuteman and as soon as he entered the portal, Virginia Tech reached out. He had a visit to Blacksburg when he was in high school.

Virginia Tech makes the list for 4-Star safety recruit

Four-star safety Kendall Daniels released his Top 12 schools and Virginia Tech was on the list for the Norfolk, Virginia native.

The list of schools is impressive and includes Oklahoma, Michigan, USC, Penn State, Duke, and Maryland. If there is one good thing currently going for Virginia Tech, Brent Pry, and the Hokies coaching staff it's that they hit it big with the Class of 2024 in recruiting in the Commonwealth.

When he was hired to replace Justin Fuente, Pry knew that recruiting in Virginia was a priority, and after not getting some big in-state recruits last season, that changed this season. Daniels, a 6-foot-3, 187-pounder, is one of the top Class of 2025 recruits in Virginia and would be a huge addition to Chris Marve's defense down the line in Blacksburg.
