Virginia Tech football to host highly-sought after Class of 2026 running back against Rutgers

When Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry met with the media on Tuesday for his weekly press conference ahead of Saturday's non-conference game against Rutgers, the third-year coach said that there are going to be a number of recruits on campus this weekend. He wasn't kidding.
In-state Class of 2026 running back Savion Hiter has locked in a visit to Virginia Tech this weekend ahead of the matchup with the Scarlet Knights, according to Brian Dohn of 247Sports. This is a visit that is rather surprising as he recently released his top five schools and the Hokies were not on the list. His list included Georgia, Tennessee, Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State.
Hiter is a four-star according to 247Sports and has a five-star composite ranking is the No. 20 player in his class, the No. 1 running back, and the No. 1 overall player in his class in Virginia. Last season as a sophomore for Woodberry Forest, he rushed for 1,187 yards and 11 touchdowns before transferring to Louisa County.
Hiter is taking a visit outside his Top 5, but he will be making some visits in the comming months to his Top 5 for games against major programs. In the overall picture, the Hokies are up against it in recruiting going up against some the best programs in the country and if he decides to to go somewhere outside of Virginia, at least they got a visit from him.
Currently in the Class of 2026, Virginia Tech has one commitment from quarterback Peyton Falzone from Nazareth, PA, who committed on June 29. Falzone has been back on campus this summer and was helping the Hokies staff recruit for the future during visiting periods.
