When the Virginia Tech football team takes the field against Tulane University Wednesday afternoon in Annapolis, Maryland for the Military Bowl, Hokies punter Peter Moore will do so sporting a different number on his back.

Usually No.85 in your program, Moore will wear a special number against the Green Wave as it was announced by second-year head coach Brent Pry.

Peter Moore will wear No. 25 vs. Tulane

In a team meeting recently, Pry made his pregame announcement that Moore will wear Frank Beamer's No. 25 against Tulane.

Moore is a junior for the Hokies and he is a local boy to the Annapolis area, from Davidsonville, Maryland. This season for Virginia Tech, Moore is having a very good season. He has 58 punts in 2023 for 2,508 yards and is averaging 43.2 yards a boot with a longest kick of 62 yards in a loss at Rutgers in September.

"It's an honor to wear (No.) 25 in the bowl game, the Military Bowl especially in my hometown,'' said Moore. "To get to wear in twice in one year is really special. It's always special to represent Coach Beamer's legacy of special teams greatness. Looking forward to wearing No. 25.''

Moore previously wore No. 25 on Sept. 30 in the Hokies 38-21 victory over Pittsburgh at Lane Stadium. You can be sure that Moore will wear the number with pride against Tulane.
