Early over/under win totals for the 2024 college football season were released earlier this season. As far as Virginia Tech goes, their first over/under win total was 7.5 which was very tempting for bettors.

After spring practices and Spring Games were over, many over/under win totals were updated and honestly, the updated number for the Hokies per one betting site still looks like an excellent bet.

Virginia Tech's over/under win total bumped up to 8 at DraftKings

DraftKings updated their over/under win totals for the 2024 season and Virginia Tech went from 7.5 to 8. Despite the number moving up a half a game, it still looks like a good bet. First, if you take the over, you would need the Hokies to win nine games. It still looks solid.

Why does it look solid? Well, first off, by now you know that head coach Brent Pry and his staff got a huge amount of retainment from last season’s team, mainly on offense with quarterback Kyron Drones, running back Bhayshul Tuten, and four wide receivers returning along with the offensive line. Defensively, there was also a lot of retainment along with some key additions from the transfer portal.

Another reason over eight looks solid is Virginia Tech's schedule. There is no Louisville, North Carolina State, or Florida State in the ACC, their three conference losses last season. They have tough road games at Miami and Syracuse and host Clemson in November. After that, there were games against Boston College, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Duke, and Stanford. They also have a doable non-conference schedule with road games at Vanderbilt and Old Dominion and home games with Marshall and Rutgers.

Nine wins is very doable, making the over a good bet and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Hokies reach 10 wins.
