Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry is a defensive guy. The former Penn State defensive coordinator before coming to Blacksburg to replace Justin Fuente, Pry is looking to add some pieces from the Class of 2025 on that side of the ball.

He does have a commitment from four-star linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh from Virginia while the other four commitments are on offense. Virginia Tech has a bunch of recruits coming to Blacksburg over the next month for an official visit, including four-star safety and Vanderbilt commit Carson Lawrence. Saturday, a four-star defensive back from Florida powerhouse IMG Academy released his top six schools in the Class of 2025 and the Hokies made the list.

Major Preston, Jr. releases Top 6 schools which included Virginia Tech

Four-star defensive back Major Preston, Jr. from Bradenton, Florida released his Top 6 schools and Virginia Tech made the cut for the 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety. Also on the list are Oklahoma, Missouri, Florida, Colorado, and Ole Miss. He will announce his decision on July 1.

According to Rivals, Preston is the 29th-ranked player at his position and 68th-ranked in the state of Florida. He has an official visit to Virginia Tech scheduled for June 21, during what will be a very busy recruiting weekend for Pry and his staff. 247Sports has him ranked as the 37th player at his position and 61st in Florida. On3 Sports prediction machine has Virginia Tech as the leader to land him with Florida second.

Aside from Lawrence, five-star safety Faheem Delane, younger brother of current Hokie Mansoor, is another Class of 2025 recruit that has Virginia Tech in the mix and you have to think that one of (may two??) of Delane, Lawrence and Preston could be Hokies down the line. The Hokies success of DBs is something that should not unnoticed.
