Virginia Tech Football: Hokies in the running for 3 recruits

The Virginia Tech football team is in the running for three recruits, one on offense and two on defense.

It may be January, but the recruiting trail for college football is still hot. The Virginia Tech football team has made several final lists for some recruits and you can add three more to the list, two on defense and one on offense.

Cole Funderburk

A three-star defensive end from Georgia, Funderburk is a highly-sought recruit in the Class of 2025 and he released his final five schools and Virginia Tech made the list. The North Gwinnett High School edge rusher and according to 247Sports, he's the 71st first player in the state of Georgia.

He had a huge junior season registering 65 tackles, 35 for a loss, and 16 sacks, which ranked him in the Top 10 in the state. His final four schools are Indiana, Georgia Tech, Appalachian State, and Indiana. He also had offers from Wake Forest, Charlotte, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, and Bowling Green.

Ari Watford

A four-star in-state recruit, Watford is another defensive end in the Class of 2025 and according to 247Sports, he's the second-ranked edge rusher in Virginia and ninth nationally in his class.

Along with the Hokies, the other five schools that are finalists for him are South Carolina, Clemson, Syracuse, Penn State, and Ohio State. Recently Brent Pry and his staff have had a lot of success in recruiting in Virginia and Watford should be at the top of their list.

Marlen Bright

Bright, a Class of 2026 offensive tackle from DePaul Catholic in New Jersey, announced that he has received six offers already and Virginia Tech was one of the schools. As we know, Pry and his staff are always on the lookout for offensive linemen. Other schools that have offered him are Bucknell, Boston College, Illinois, Syracuse, and Penn State. This is a player worth keeping an eye on as his recruiting unfolds.
