This past season was the second for head coach Brent Pry and his staff at Virginia Tech looking to turn the program around and build it back up after the school parted ways with Justin Fuente in November of 2021. After going 3-8 in his first season, Hokies fans were hoping for the next step in the rebuild and it’s safe to say that the next step was taken in 2023.

After starting the season 1-3 with non-conference losses to Purdue, Rutgers, and Marshall after a season-opening victory over Old Dominion on Labor Day Weekend, the Hokies were looking to turn things around in ACC play. Virginia Tech was able to go 5-3 in conference play, Virginia Tech became bowl-eligible and was able to get some extra practice and one more game heading into 2024.

There were many factors to the turnaround for Pry and his team this season, but one thing can’t be ignored and that is that the hype going into 2024 has a different feeling that has not been felt in Blacksburg in some time. Transfer portal additions have been huge, as well as getting a lot of the key skilled position players to return. The culture has changed for the better and it’s setting up to be a special season in 2024.

As we look back at some of the great things that happened, let’s rank the five biggest wins of 2023 for Virginia Tech.
