When the transfer portal opened, the Virginia Tech football coaching staff was very active in adding players for the 2024 season. They added three defensive linemen, a linebacker, and an offensive lineman in December.

All of those additions are expected to play a big role next season for head coach Brent Pry and his staff, but who will make the biggest impact remains to be seen. CBS Sports released one transfer portal addition for each ACC team that will make an impact and it's hard to argue with their choice for the Hokies.

CBS Sports expects Aeneas Peebles to make biggest impact

CBS Sports expects that Duke transfer Aeneas Peebles will make the biggest impact next season in Blacksburg and it's hard to argue against it. Here is what they wrote,

"Part of a deep rotation along the defensive line at Duke, Peebles earned All-ACC honors after co-leading the Blue Devils in tackles for loss (8.5) and finishing second in sacks (4.0) despite not being a regular starter. Few defensive linemen in the conference were as productive per opportunity as Peebles, who has four years of experience and can be a star in the trenches for the Hokies in 2024. "

Why is it easy to see Peebles make the biggest impact next season? It's simple actually. Peebles joins a defensive line that is bringing back Antwaun Powell-Ryland and Josh Fuga, while also adding Kemari Copeland and Kelvin Gilliam in the transfer portal with Peebles.

That is a lot of talent along the defensive line for the Hokies and they are going to make things difficult for their opponents. Game planning for them is not going to be easy as blocking them will be difficult and that should open things up for them to put a lot of pressure on quarterbacks or get sacks. Peebles could have a special year for Virginia Tech and defensive coordinator Chris Marve. We agree with their pick.
