Virginia Tech Football boasts 13 players on East-West Shrine Bowl list
By Scott Roche
Another sure sign that the 2024 college football season is right around the corner, the East-West Shrine Bowl Top 1000 list has been released. This season, 13 members of Virginia Tech made the list ahead of what is expected to be a big Year 3 under head coach Brent Pry.
The Hokies have 13 largely in part to all the retainment they got from the 2023 team, as well as some transfers who are expected to make a big impact this fall. The list is made up of players who are NFL Draft eligible next April in Green Bay and puts them on the radar of scouts if they are already not there. Here are the 13 Virginia Tech players who are on the list,
- Da'Quan Felton
- Jaylin Lane
- Aneas Peebles
- Dorian Strong
- Jalen Stroman
- Bhayshul Tuten
- Kyron Drones
- Antwaun Powell-Ryland
- Josh Fuga
- Kaden Moore
- Ali Jennings
- Keli Lawson
- Sam Brumfield
This past NFL Draft in Detroit, it was a quiet one for Virginia Tech with no players drafted and a large reason for that was because some of the players on the roster who could have been picked decided to return to Blacksburg for the 2024 season. It's going to be a different Draft in Wisconsin next April for the Hokies.
The East-West Shrine Game will be played on Jan. 31, 2025, at AT&T Stadium in Dallas and this is the initial list that the committee has released ahead of camp opening. This is a huge deal for the players who get picked to play in the game as they are coached by NFL coaches and are allowing showing what they can do. If any player has a dream of continuing to play at the next level in the NFL, this is the postseason all-star game that you want to be a part of.
