. ACC. 436. . 4. . Oct. 26. . .

The Yellow Jackets have a tough opening to the season, playing Florida State in less than three weeks across the pond. They return quarterback Haynes King and head coach Brent Key added some key players in the transfer portal that should make them a better team than a year ago.

One side of the ball the Yellow Jackets need to fix from last season is on defense which was not good, but they should be better this year. This has a chance to be an entertaining game in Blacksburg, but a tough one with King under center.

ACC. Sept. 21. . 452. . 3. team. . .

This is by far the toughest non-conference game on the schedule for the Hokies. Rutgers ran all over Virginia Tech last September and return running back Kyle Monangai who gashed them for 143 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-16 victory. This season, Tech should be better against the run with their transfer portal additions along the defensive line. This will be the fourth game in a row for Virginia Tech with a game the following week at Miami, while the Scarlet Knights will be coming in off a bye, which gives them an extra week to prepare.
