Early Signing Day was a big day for the Virginia Tech football team in terms of the future. They signed 15 Class of 24 recruits and added four players in the transfer portal. All in all, it was a good day and Brent Pry said that they addressed needs for the future.

While the four transfer players, defensive linemen Aeneas Peebles and Kemari Copeland, linebacker Sam Brumfield and offensive lineman Montavious Cunningham, are going to come in and make an immediate impact there is a lot to like about his class. Here are three major takeaways from signing day.

Relationships in Virginia Being Mended

If there was one thing that was burned during the Justin Fuente era in Blacksburg, it was the relationships between his staff in recruiting within the state of Virginia. During and right after his tenure at Virginia Tech, the top talent in the state was leaving to go to other schools. Wednesday, it was a good sign that the Hokies landed some serious top talent within the state of Virginia.

The Hokies signed four Top 15 recruits from Virginia and if you added the No. 19 recruit, then they landed five in the Top 20. Pry did some serious recruiting within the state during his time as defensive coordinator at Penn State and had formed connections. It appears that those connections and relationships are good now and keeping the in-state talent is huge.
