Virginia Tech Football: 2024 signees who will make the biggest impact as freshman
By Scott Roche
Early Signing Day has come and gone and it was a successful one for the Virginia Tech football team and second-year head coach Brent Pry. The Hokies welcomed 15 high school, recruits and four players in the transfer portal. Of course, the four portal players, Aeneas Peebles, Montavious Cunningham, Kemari Copeland, and Sam Brumfield are going to come in and fill immediate needs for Pry and his staff.
From the Class of 2024, Virginia Tech has some talented players who are going to come in and battle for playing time next season. With a lot of experience coming at most positions, some of the incoming recruits are going to make it tough for the coaching staff to keep them off the field. Here are three players who could come in and make an impact right away.
Gabe Williams
Virginia Tech added depth on the defensive line with Peebles and Copeland coming from the portal to play with Josh Fuga and Antwaun Powell-Ryland, but if there was one need they needed to add a young player who could come in and make an impact, it's at linebacker. Sam Brumfield transferred from Middle Tennessee State in the portal, but Williams is a four-star linebacker from Maryland who is a talented outside linebacker.
With Brumfield’s experience and the returning players along the defensive line with two transfers in Peebles and Copeland, which should take more pressure off of Williams and a tackling machine in high school, he fits the Hokies system under Chris Marve very well.
