Virginia Tech at Florida State Men's Basketball: How to watch, prediction & more
By Scott Roche
After a week off, the Virginia Tech men’s basketball team returns to the court in Tallahassee against Florida State. The last time the Hokies were on the court, they lost, 86-63, at Wake Forest. Mike Young’s team was outplayed in all facets and he said that after the game.
"Steve’s team played better than my team from the opening tip to the end of it. We’ll be better, have to be better."
Now Virginia Tech heads for a late-afternoon game against FSU looking to get back in the win column against a team that has been up and down all season.
Virginia Tech at Florida State, How to watch, prediction
The game will be broadcast on ACC Network and FuboTV.
If there’s been one team that has head-scratching results over the last week, it’s the Seminoles. On Dec. 29, they lost at home to Lipscomb, 78-75, after falling behind by as much as 21 points. Then Wednesday night, Florida State bounced back with an 82-71 ACC victory over Georgia Tech at home, the same Yellow Jackets team that beat Duke in their ACC opener in December and went to the championship game of the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii on Christmas Eve against Nevada.
On the flip side, the Hokies beat Louisville in their ACC opener in December but suffered a frustrating loss to the Demon Deacons last weekend. One issue that Young and his staff have been dealing with is an injury to point guard Sean Pedulla, who was injured in the final seconds of the win over the Cardinals on Dec. 3. He missed two out of the three final non-conference games before returning against Wake Forest and struggling. Against Wake, he struggled with six turnovers and was pulled early by Young in favor of freshman Brandon Rechsteiner, who has been playing better as of late and gaining more confidence.
For Virginia Tech, this is a big bounce-back game in early January and a loss here would be a bad one for the Hokies. A healthy Pedulla would go a long way for success and you hope that a week off gave him time to rest and get treatment. The feeling here is that Virginia Tech finds a way to grind out a victory on the road.
