Virginia Tech at Stanford Final Odds and Predictions
By Scott Roche
This has not been the easiest week for the Virginia Tech football team. After suffering a gut-wrenching loss at the hands of Miami last Friday night, the Hokies shifted their attention to Stanford this weekend, some 2,300 miles away from Blacksburg. They are doing with after learning that defensive tackle Kemari Copeland was lost for the season and will redshirt this season.
The Hokies are coming off their best 60-minute performance of the season against the Hurricanes. Was it a perfect 60 minutes? No, but it was certainly a performance for them to build off of. The question this week is, can they carry that performance over the Cardinal and repeat it against the Cardinal? That’s what fans are hoping they can do.
Virginia Tech at Stanford, Final Odds & Predictions
Virginia Tech opened a 5-point favorite according to DraftKings and as the week went along, the line rose to 8.5 points. At the time this article is being written, it has dropped to 8 points. Given what has happened through the first five weeks of the season the Hokies have been a very inconsistent team and Stanford has performed better than some thought, it’s a very tough line to bet.
This will be power vs. power with Stanford’s defensive line going up Bhyashul Tuten and the Virginia Tech running game, which also includes quarterback Kyron Drones. The Cardinal lead the ACC in run defense, so this will be a good test for the Hokies running game and offensive line.
We will a lot about the 2024 version of Virginia Tech early in this one as either they have put the debacle in Miami last week behind them, or it’s going to go the other way and it will hang over them. This game isn’t going to be, but I’m sticking with my pick from earlier this week, the Hokies win, but don’t cover the spread. As for the over/under, it's 49.5 points and I would take the over.
