The Virginia Tech football team opens the 2024 season in 11 days at Vanderbilt against the Commodores in Nashville. It's the first of four straight non-conference games for Brent Pry's team to begin the season before their eight-game ACC schedule begins on Sept. 27 at Miami in an early-season conference showdown between two teams with a lot of expectations.

As far as the 2025 schedule goes for the Hokies, the 12 opponents are already set with some dates already confirmed while the ACC slate outside of their annual battle with Virginia, is to be announced at a later date. With that said, here are the opponents for the 2025 season and all we know so far.

Virginia Tech 2025 football opponents and what we know

The Hokies will play seven of their 12 games at Lane Stadium in 2025 and the schedule will also feature a pair of SEC foes. The remaining ACC games aside from Virginia will be announced at a later date, likely early in 2025.

Aug. 31 or Sept. 1: vs. South Carolina, at Atlanta
Sept. 6: vs. Vanderbilt
Sept. 13: vs. Old Dominion
Sept. 20: vs.Wofford
Nov. 29: at Virginia
TBA: at Florida State
TBA: at Georgia Tech
TBA: at North Carolina State
TBA: vs. California
TBA: vs. Louisville
TBA: vs. Miami
TBA: vs. Wake Forest

It's certainly an interesting schedule with two SEC opponents to begin the season back-to-back before two games Old Dominion and Wofford. The ACC slate is going to be a lot tougher than it is this season with FSU, NC State, and Louisville back on the schedule after they handed the Hokies their three conference losses in 2023. Miami and Virginia are yearly opponents under the new scheduling model and after visiting Stanford, one of three new ACC members this season, this season, the 2025 schedule has California on it when they visit Blacksburg.
