Way-too-early Virginia Tech football game-by-game predictions for 2024

Week 4: Sept. 21: vs. Rutgers
Virginia Tech’s second Power 5 non-conference game will be the second game they have circled on their schedule after Marshall. The Scarlet Knights ran all over the Hokies last season on the road and returned a good chunk of their team. This will be a good final test at home before ACC play begins.
Prediction: Win
Week 5: Sept. 27: at Miami
A Friday night game in South Florida is not the way many people saw the Hokies beginning ACC play. This has the potential to be an outstanding quarterback matchup between Drones and Washington State transfer Cam Ward.
Prediction: Loss
Week 6: Oct. 5: at Stanford
The Cardinal is one of three new ACC teams in 2024 along with SMU and California. The schedule makers didn’t do the Hokies any favors with a cross-country flight after a Friday night game in Miami.
Prediction: Win
